Provincial Champions of rugby were in the building at last night’s Centre Wellington council meeting. The U-18 Fergus Highland Rugby Team captured the honour last fall at a tournament in Barrie, Ontario.
Team captain Ty Panylo, who was in attendance with fellow captain Landon Stafford, said following a special presentation from Mayor Shawn Watters, the weight of the accomplishment is hard to overstate. Stafford and Panylo were backed by their coach Graeme Nelson, who had nothing but kind words and appreciation for his players. Their grit, determination and hard work paid off as the team ran the table on the cold day, en route to provincial glory.
